hello people my name's matt i have great joy in fishing the lovely waters of southampton
not the greatest around i'm sorry to say , the only part of my local river (the itchen)
that holds barbel is part of a private trout and salmon fisherie and is only open for course fishing in the winter months , by which time the barbel have usually moved on so i'm looking for advise on where to go thats locaol to me yet fishes well !!!!

Hi to all
My name is gareth im new to the forum been fishing since i was about 7 im now 24.
I started going down the rivers for barbel about 3 years ago but ever really got serious but now ive got back into it.
I had my P.Bs this year back in August it took my mate scales round to 7 1/2 lbs which is not that big compaired to the size they do go to but it was the best fight ive ever had

This year im hoping to get some barbel fishing in but not sure were to go this time of year as i now river access is limited due to water levels rising.

Anyone got any ideas
